Transition Services
Orchard Village realizes the great need for resources by people with disabilities who are graduating from high school or special education, yet don't know what steps to take at that point to progress into a more independent and community-integrated living arrangement. Orchard Village Transition Services fills this gap in resources.
As a participant in Transitions, the people we serve learn valuable skills that will help them meet their goals.
Social Skills
- Transportation Skill, including bus routes, train schedules, and taking a taxi
- Attendance at social and recreational activities
- Enhanced community safety skills and emergency procedures
Independent Living Skills
- Daily menu planning and cooking skills
- Scheduled training focused on caring for their home
- Weekly money management skills
Vocational Skills
- Pre-vocational classes, job club, job seminar, and interviewing skill development and preparation
- Job search techniques, resumes and cover letters
- Assistance in finding a job
- On the job skills such as interacting with co-workers and supervisors and managing schedules
